What is the Gospel? Gospel is a word that simply means, “good news.” The good news of Jesus Christ can be summed up in Jesus’ words in:

JOHN 3:16 ESV

“For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whomever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life.”

GOD: OUR MAKER

God is the creator of the world and He created everything for His own glory, including you. You were created with the responsibility to love, worship and obey God. (Genesis 1:1; Psalms 19:1; Matthew 22:37-38)

SIN: OUR FAILURE

Even though God created the world good, sin entered the world through the sin of Adam, the first man. Every person, including you, is a sinner, and  the punishment of sin is death. (Romans 5:12; Romans 3:23; Romans 6:23)

JESUS CHRIST: OUR SAVIOR AND GOD

Jesus Christ is the only Son of God, fully God and fully man, who lived a perfect, sinless life. God shows us His love by sending Jesus to die for the sins of the world on the cross. (John 1:1,14; Romans 5:8; Isaiah 53:6)

REPENTANCE & FAITH: OUR RESPONSE

Your response to the Gospel must be to call upon the Lord in faith and turn away from your sin in repentance. This is all a gift from God and it cannot be earned through good works. (Luke 13:3; Ephesians 2:8-9)

NEW LIFE: OUR PLEASURE

If you respond to God in repentance and faith, God’s gift to you is the forgiveness of sin and new life through Jesus Christ in which you may know the one true God. (2 Corinthians 5:17; Romans 6:23; John 17:3)

ARE YOU READY TO RESPOND TO THE GOSPEL?

Go to God in prayer telling him that you are a sinner, and trust in Christ alone for salvation. (John 1:9; Romans 10:9-10)
