Baptism is a public profession of one’s faith in Christ for salvation and the forgiveness of sins. As our Statement of Faith states: “It is an act of obedience symbolizing the believer’s faith in a crucified, buried, and risen Savior, the believer’s death to sin, the burial of the old life, and the resurrection to walk in newness of life in Christ Jesus.”
At FBC Ironton we believe that biblical baptism is symbolic. That means, baptism doesn’t save you, but it’s a crucial part of the Christian life. Because of this, baptism is a prerequisite to membership at FBC Ironton. You must have been previously baptized at the time of your commitment to Christ, or you can be baptized upon requesting membership.
To request baptism, please come forward during the invitation time of a Sunday morning service, or speak with one of our pastors. From that point, you and one of our pastors will meet to discuss more fully the meaning of baptism and schedule a time to be baptized.
