Corey Williams serves as the Associate Pastor of Worship and Discipleship at FBC Ironton. He and his wife, Sunni, have been married since 2011 and they have two children, Emerson and Oliver. Corey completed his Masters of Divinity from Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary in August of 2016 and joined our pastoral staff in September of that same year.
Growing up in Independence, Mississippi, Corey was raised in a traditional Southern Baptist Church where he heard the Gospel proclaimed and trusted in Christ for salvation at the age of 9. Despite the faithful teaching of God’s word by his pastors and Sunday school teachers, Corey struggled with patterns of sin throughout high school and his early years of college. While attending the University of Mississippi, Corey became involved with the Baptist Student Union and God graciously brought brothers into his life who provided him with real, intentional discipleship and accountability. These brothers challenged and encouraged him to authentically live out his faith in every aspect of his life.
Corey not only has a passion for leading the church in authentic worship of God, but also a great desire to see a culture of discipleship take root among God’s people through small groups ministry, one-on-one discipleship, and counseling. Having gone through many difficult life experiences himself, God has given Corey a heart for those who are suffering and those who may be struggling with life dominating sin patterns. He believes that God’s Word is completely sufficient to address problems in all aspects of life and is eager to provide biblical counseling to the members of FBC Ironton.
